Run for Wakulla Springs 5K - May 15, 2010

On May 15th we did the 5K for Wakulla Springs. It was at Wakulla Springs State Park, which is a little south of Tallahassee. We had never been there before and it is always a little stressful trying to get somewhere on time where we have never been. (especially early in the morning with both the kids!) We made it with just a few minutes to spare. We picked my mom up on the way and she hung out with the kiddos while we ran! She also took some pictures for us too!

The run was through a preserve that isn't open to the public, so it was a very cool trail run. There were about 355 runners and there were some pretty fast runners at this event! The first 3/4 mile was soft (not packed at all) sand and that was so hard to run on! It was so difficult for me. I had been dealing with a knee injury and the sand just completely threw me off, especially at the beginning of a race. My times have been slower because I haven't been running as much to let my knee heal. I finished 27:44. It stinks, but I am thankful I have still been able to run!

James did great on this run even though he didn't like the sand either. He pushed himself so hard right around the 3 mile mark that he started throwing up, but he just kept on running! That wasn't going to stop him! He finished in 21:34!

Finishing the run

This picture is funny because James was telling me the story of him getting sick on the run!
